Day 75/365: Darkness.

Today, you are once again getting old pictures. I was busy for a majority of my day so... I wasn't really thinking about art. Also, when I did try to sit down and think of something, my mind was just blank.

And... I have a fucking awful headache right now that is actually making it difficult for me to even concentrate on what I'm typing right now.

I promise I'll post a few new pictures tomorrow. Actually, a bunch. You're going to get a bunch of new pictures tomorrow to make up for my utter lack of following the rules, but right now I'm going to post some old pictures, then OD on tylenol and go to bed. I hope I feel okay in the morning because this is just bullshit right now.

This is probably my crowning achievement as far as collages go. It's called "Morphine" and was the product of listening to the song of the same name by Michael Jackson. I listened to that song almost the entire three hours I spent making this.

Some old word art. As with a lot of my old art, I think it would be worth it to try to redo this.

A picture I may have posted here already. I can't remember. I'm sorry.

I had gone on a short picture taking walk and was walking back to my house through the back alley when I noticed how pretty the sky was.

My mom and I were at a craft/antique fair thing, and we saw this creepy doll. I can't remember if it was this doll or a different creepy doll there, but if you lifted its arm up and let go, the arm would stay there, but slowly inch down BY ITSELF. Which is perfectly explainable but still felt really weird.

And now, a Styx feature. In August 2008, I saw Styx at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, IA. It was pretty epic and I have a few pictures.
I searched my deviantart gallery for the keyword "dark" and one of the pictures came up, so I thought... fuck it. I'll just feature a few Styx pictures for the hell of it.

I recommend clicking on this for the full view. It was one of the pictures where my camera accidentally focused on the back of these people's heads instead of JY singing.

JY, front and center. The man kicks ass on guitar and has an amazing, unique voice.

This is really the only picture I took that night that came out the way I wanted it to. My camera does not do motion shots well. I want a camera that can get stop motion shots. Sigh.

Another blurry picture I had to make the best of. And I really like it. I used lyrics from Snowblind, and that's actually what JY was singing at the time. And it was incredible. If I hadn't known Snowblind so well from repeated listening, I would have damn near thought they were playing the recording. JY burned the house down on this one.

And that's all I have for you. I'm really sorry about using pre taken pictures. But... as I promised, you will get a bunch of new pictures tomorrow. Tomorrow's theme is "days", and come on, there couldn't be an easier theme to take pictures for.

Right now, I'm going to OD on tylenol and hop in bed with my mp3 player on.

Day 74/365: Dangerous.

Today, you're getting random old pictures.

For one, I was gone/busy most of the day. We were moving my brother out of his college dorm room and back home, so that took up the morning. Then when we got home around noon, we pretty much left again to go out to eat. Then, my mom, brother, and I did a tiny bit of shopping. I got a new pair of shoes because they were having a buy one get one half off deal, and there was a pair of shoes my brother wanted. I owe my mom like 11 bucks for them. You might get a picture tomorrow if I feel like it.

Also, my allergies have been plaguing me something fucking awful today, resulting in a very intense headache that is only now beginning to wane, because I took some generic allergy pills. It is for this reason that I really don't feel like having to conjure up something incredible and artsy for today's entry. Work with me here in relating these things to the "dangerous" theme.

This is an old pickup truck we don't have anymore. It was around when I was very very young, all the way up through just a few years ago. It was an 82 Chevy I believe. Anyway, this is one of few film pictures in my gallery. At the time my digital camera was broken, and mom still had a film camera. I stole her camera one day and took just a few pictures. This was one. The red bit on the left is because I accidentally exposed some of the film because I forgot you had to rewind the film before you took it out of the camera.
I relate this to today's theme because I was always afraid of cutting myself on the huge patches of rust that were all over the truck.

The same truck from above, through an old wagon wheel propped up against an old clothesline post that's in our yard. This was also taken with film, so I'm really surprised it actually focused on the thing I wanted it to focus on. Those shots were really hard for me to get with film cameras.

A photomanip I did to an old picture of me. Included because... acid is dangerous. I don't know. Lol.

This one reminds me of today's theme because... Well. Back during my Def Leppard obsession, I watched a bunch of Def Leppard stuff. On dvds at my bestie Vanessa's house, on tv, on the internet, I don't remember. But in one of these things, Rick Allen told a story about when he was a teenager, how he bought this whole huge jug of white wine and drank it all at once. And then he got super sick in the back of their van. But... yeah. That isn't safe. XD

Now, because I feel another slightly large crush on Rick Allen coming on, I want to include some of my art that relates to that.

A picture of Rick that I messed with in Paint Shop Pro 8. Basically I used the threshold tool a bunch. It's hard to explain but someday I'll make a tutorial thing to explain myself.

Another photomanip using that same technique.

An animated icon of Rick that I made. I've done icons like this for John Lennon, John Deacon, and Paul McCartney I think. I may have made another one but I forget.

The kind of image blends I'm very fond of making.

Another image blend.

I wrote his name in sand at the beach specifically because I wanted to use the picture as the background to one of my image blends.

This is a tattoo I'm legit considering. I want to redraw it a bit, since I did this way back in 2008. But. I'm kind of promising myself that if I ever get down to a certain size (I think size 14 was what I was going for) that I would start the process of getting half sleeve tattoos, on my upper arms. Just so I could still wear 3/4 length sleeved shirts or longer sleeves so I could still look presentable for job interviews and stuff. I'm thinking of this tattoo on my upper arm.

And there you have it. I'm terribly sorry about using old material, but my head hurts so much right now and my allergies are so kicking my ass that I really can't concentrate on artsy things.

Tomorrow's theme is darkness, and I'm not entirely sure what I'll do for that, but I'll certainly try to make something new.

Day 73/365: Dance.

Today you're getting yet another sketch. Partially because I have no idea what I want to do with the clothes in the drawing, but that I got kind of a little drunk in the middle of the drawing, and even though I enjoy inking and coloring pictures while slightly juiced, I'm not very good at it.

I put it through a color balance filter to make it a little less boring.
I wanted to put the girl in somewhat normal clothes because usually my people are in weird sexy hippie clothes or something. I wanted her in form fitting clothes, which is the main reason why she doesn't have a huge flowy skirt on or something. Part of the sketch was done while looking at a picture of a real person. I need to do this more often, but it's hard finding pictures that fit my criteria. I like these people to be wearing form fitting clothes, or not very many clothes at all because I need to be able to see the anatomy and stuff to draw. As it was I had to bullshit half of this because in the reference picture I used I couldn't see enough of the anatomy to know what the fuck I was drawing.

I can't remember what tomorrow's theme is so that will be a surprise.
Now, if you'll excuse me, there is a bed with my name written all over it. Feliz Cinco de Mayo.

Day 72/365: cutlery.

Phew. I was one typo away from making you all think this entry would be about spiked kool aid and Charles Manson.

Anyway.
Today's theme is cutlery, as you can see, and once again my camera decides to be a spoiled little wench diva. I had a weird idea of using a 45 record of mine as a plate, and putting flowers on it. Then, I'd put a few favorite pieces of silverware next to it, and poof.
Well, none of the pictures that involved silverware came out. They were all blurry. I try holding my breath when I take pictures but my camera doesn't like certain lighting. If it's too dark, bam, it takes too long to take and I blur the picture. If it's too light, bam, blurry picture. Even if I think my hands were perfectly still.

I do however have new pictures for you, they're just not quite on topic. First, I'll give you a couple old relevant pictures, then the new shots from today.

The beat up Eleanor Rigby single I bought for 50 cents at a second hand store. I didn't care that it looks way too crappy to play, or that it had writing all over it.

I was making a smoothie one day where out of nowhere I went "CAMERA!" and bounded in the other room to fetch my camera. I do this a lot.

Okay. Now for the pictures I took today.

I love the channel mixer in Paint Shop Pro 8. It does trippy things and I like trippy things. Lol.

LOVE IT. It's like... sunset colors. You can't tell here but that 45 is green.

Told you.

This is pretty much how all the pictures looked without trippy things done to the color balance or channel mixer filters.

I think it looks nice with a cool-ish color balance.

Reminds me of old colorized photos. Basically this is a two layer picture. The base layer is the full color version, and the top layer is black and white. I think the opacity of the black and white layer was like..60 percent. I just edited this picture ten minutes ago and I already can't remember.

Are you tired of looking at this record yet?

I'm not sure why I like this one. It almost looks like a picture out of an old newspaper or something. I don't know.

Anyway, that's today's entry. Mom and I have some shopping to do and then we're going to movie night at this rich gay couple's house. It's awesome. Gay people literally outnumber straight people at these get togethers.

Gay people are so awesome.

Anyway. For tomorrow's theme we leave the "c"s behind. Tomorrow's theme is "dance", and I'm already brainstorming and doing some random sketching for that.

Fuck. I just remembered.
Okay. So I painted my nails not thinking much of it. I just remembered I not only have a load of dishes soaking in the kitchen sink, but I have two goddam baskets of laundry I need to fold. And my nails are not dry yet. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Eh. I'll just tell mom I'll finish that shit after we get back from movie night. Because then I can fuck up my nail polish. I just want it to look decent for movie night. Lol.
I'm still mad at myself for forgetting that. Dammit.

Day 71/365: curvy.

Today, I opted to take pictures of my black acoustic guitar. I got mad because a few of the shots I really liked turned out blurry, but I got a few decent shots out of the deal so there's that.

I did get my camera to successfully load the pictures onto my computer. I didn't upload the backlog of pictures on my camera but I probably will tomorrow.

My guitar propped up on our garage. We have chicken wire up back there because we once had an expensive saw stolen from us. It was either a saw or some other expensive thing of that nature (my dad used to build stuff like little shelves, a bookcase I have in my room, etc).

I know this is overly red; work with me here. I liked it.

Yeah, our backyard is kind of a dump, much to the charign of our racist, live-in-a-gated-community-in-Florida-in-the-winter next door neighbors.

I had planned to get a few close ups of the curve of my guitar but those are the unsuccessful shots I mentioned from before, so unfortunately I don't have any of those to show you.
Oh well.

So, tomorrow's theme is "cutlery". Not quite sure what I'll do for that, but it will be brand new material.

Day 70/365: Curly

Today I learned two things; that my fujifilm fine pix j38 is a fat sack of crap sometimes, and that there is absolutely nothing in my deviantart gallery underneath the keywords "curly", "curls", or "curl".

I should tell the story of why I have to use old pictures for today's entry, and why they barely pertain to the theme at all.
Yesterday I was having an issue with my camera. I went to upload like, 190 something pictures. When it got to a picture 160 or so in, there was an error. There was an option to try to upload that picture again, so I clicked that button. This resulted in the entire upload cancelling. All those 160 pictures, poof, not on the computer.

The weird part is, when I took a picture of the drawing I used for yesterday's post, those pictures uploaded fine.

Okay. Switch to today. I try to upload all those pictures again. It got an error message at the same picture, and it would not upload a single one after that. I had to click "skip" probably forty or fifty times. Fun.
So.. when I'm trying to edit and save a couple of said pictures, nothing was going right. I color corrected a picture, then clicked undo, and the picture disappeared.

So I tried to edit another picture and that went fine. Until I tried to save it. I got a "error writing file" message. Several things could be to blame here. That computer (as mom's had trouble putting pictures on it for ages now). My camera, as it's prone to fuck up. The photo editing program. It's an old program that I for for free years ago.

Whatever the reason, the fact is that I'm too irritated/pissed off to bother trying to mess around with it tonight. If I ever do get those pictures working, I will gladly update this post with the new pictures at the bottom, but for right now, today's pitiful collection of pictures.

Word art I did back in 2007. As with a lot of stuff I drew back then, I want to try to redo them. I had some great ideas then. However, I feel like I've come a long way and would like to try some of these concepts again. Although really, the only thing that jumps out at me that I want to change are the little black cursive words. Maybe the placement of the "Step by Step". I feel like it's crowding the trippy green business that's going on.

An old sketchbook cover. As it is I only have part of a biiig sketchbook left, and while I like that a lot, I miss having a portable sketchbook. One that was a size where I could just throw it in my messenger bag and be off with it.

This was taken in 2008.

I apologize for today's entry. It's one thing when I post old pictures as damage control to cover for my art block, but it's another when I actually have new pictures for you that I can't post. FUUUUUUUUUU
Anyway.
Tomorrow's theme is "curvy", which might mean I have to take pictures of myself. Lol. I'm not curvy. I'm just fat.

Anyway. I'm off to do random internet browsing so I suppose I'll catch you all tomorrow.

Day 69/365: Curious.

Today, you're getting another sketch, for reasons I will share with you shortly.

Based on an idea I got from a Duran Duran lyric.

Okay. Now, the reasons you're getting a sketch. This isn't exactly supposed to have any sort of realistic anatomy, but I do still want to search for a few body references. Mainly for the arm. Arms and hands are my least favorite things to draw. Also, I know I have a tendency to draw the boobs too big, so you don't have to point that out.

Also, I'm not sure as to what kind of coloring/shading I want. I thought about coloring the skin with pastel crayons and everything else with markers, but then I thought about looking up comic book outlining/shading and maybe doing something with that. Maybe outlining and doing some shading with a sharpie and then using acrylic paints or watercolors to fill in the color.

I'm really not sure.

I like this posting sketches thing. It lets me feel good that I can post something brand new without having to worry about finishing the whole shebang at once (idea, sketch, outlining, and coloring).

I can't remember what tomorrow's theme is because I'm on our other computer (as mine is tied up in the Sims 2 right now), so it'll be a surprise.
